While they may not grow as fast after the first year, children continue to grow and change and documenting their childhood with regular children's photography is something you will never regret. After over fifteen years of photographing babies, children, and families, Lisa has learned a few great tricks to help her capture your child's unique personality in images you will treasure for years to come. Our beautiful light-filled studio is great for indoor sessions, but when the weather is nice, we really love to get outdoors. We have seasonal landscaping at the studio and also have some favorite nearby outdoor locations where we often take photos. We will ask you some questions to help us understand what your goals are for your images and tailor our plans around your goals to be sure you get images you love.
How should we prepare? Do you have any tips or clothing suggestions?
We've included some of our favorite images in the gallery on this page so feel free to take some cues from the clothing you see in those photos. We also have a Pinterest board where we have saved lots of helpful information. You can find it here. There are boards that are specific to different kinds of sessions as well as just some helpful tips and pointers. You are always welcome to reach out to run outfit choices by us or ask for suggestions if you have a specific theme in mind.
How long will the session take?
The length of the session depends on the location and if you have any special requests. Of course, the temperament of the child being photographed and how they feel on the day of the session is also a huge factor. If your child appears to be coming down with a cold or some other kind of illness or just isn't himself, in most cases we are happy to reschedule the session and would usually prefer that option to trying to photograph a child who just isn't feeling up to par.
What happens after the session?
When you come for your session, we will give you a folder with some great information to help you be prepared to make decisions at the ordering appointment, which is usually scheduled within two weeks of the session. At that appointment, you will see the images Lisa carefully selected from those she captured during your child's photography session, choose your favorites and place your order. We have many options for creating wonderful art with your favorite images. We can even superimpose your images on your walls using pictures you send to us before the ordering appointment. This allows you to see how they will look on your walls at different sizes so you can be confident in your decisions. It's really helpful to know exactly where your beautiful portraits will go when you get them home.
