Our sweet Shelby, who we had for twelve and half years, died last weekend. We tried for seven and a half years before I was able to get pregnant with our first son, so Shelby was our first “baby” during our long wait for children. She had a cancerous tumor which was found almost a year ago. The vet thought she might live a few weeks at most, but she lived almost a year! We are so thankful to of had her for so long, but miss her terribly.

She had a litter of nine puppies which was SO much fun.

As one of my friend’s said, “A true dog pile.” 🙂

We kept one of the puppies, Capri, and she and Shelby have been inseparable since the day Capri was born. These are two of my favorite pictures of her as a puppy.

And a recent favorite…

We rescued a kitten from the woods behind our house and this is the first time she and Shelby met. Thankfully they got along pretty well. More than once, whenever it’s been really cold or stormy, she has slept in the doghouse with Shelby and Capri. 🙂

SUCH pathetic faces! “Pleeeeese let us in!”

My husband and our sweet girl…

And a more recent picture of Shelby and Capri…

I know Capri is lonely without Shelby, but thankfully she still has two little boys to keep her company…

And occasionally a kitty cat as well.
